MISTO, located along Solomon St in Adelaide houses a modern canteen designed for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The design has been influenced by principles from the Campana Brothers, curating a space that juxtaposes colour and texture. The canteen is accompanied by a retail space upstairs that strives to sell ethically sourced and made products in an effort to continue to assist those in need by giving funds back.

MISTO, meaning mixed in Portuguese was chosen with both the organisation and designers in mind. Originating from the designers home language in Sao Paulo, the brothers utilise a diverse range of materiality and forms inspired from what surrounds them. This is reflected through the interior with a use of both heavy and light materials that reflect the Australian landscape and tones. The IFRC has over 250,000 employees, 1 million volunteers and 8 million members assisting natural and man-made disasters in non-conflict situations. With the aim to save lives, protect livelihoods, strengthen recovery from disasters and crises, enable healthy and safe living, promote social inclusion and a culture of non-violence and peace the organisation bridges divides between generations, religions and cultures.

The use of the KAWS bear the Campana Brothers turned into a chair informed a grid like structure that relays back to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society. This is present in the use of breeze blocks along with the formation of joinery shaped to reflect a cross whilst also offering softness through select uses of curves. A repetitive series of bear outlines along the ceiling forming neon red lights is a nod towards the organisations logo and colouring, transforming the canteen from day to night. Materiality provokes layering and interest through the use of modern renders and polished concrete paired with historically rich stucco, felts and leathers.
