As an interior designer my design philosophy is centered around creating spaces that are designed to communicate the purpose of the space on multiple levels, materials, texture, volume with the ability to show restraint where needed.
My design approach has developed from a collaboration of creative studies and projects which include event design, graphic design, and multimedia.

Tasting Notes Canteen & UNESCO City OF Music Adeladide – Hub.

Situated in Adelaide’s West End is The Tasting Notes Canteen and the UNESCO; City of Music - Adelaide; Music Hub.
The Canteen represents a local culinary experience though a menu focusing on South Australian produce. And in keeping with the UNESCO organization goals, educating and involving community participation though sharing of food.

The overall design of the interior uses the charismatic aesthetic of the Campana Brothers.
The grid structure which forms the basis for the floor plans comes from the layering, slicing, and stripping aesthetic that underpins the combination of materials in the Brothers designs. The grid repeats on an angle with vertical slices that cut through the space.

Filling the void are mammoth bulkheads that emphasize the grid and shapes of the seating arrangements below; pendants and spotlights float from the bottom to highlight the tables and grid.

The use of color on the canteen level has been taken from a circular pattern on Campana furniture and applied to floor, tables, ottomans and bulkheads. The multicolored balustrade connects the two levels. The use of a blue palette on the mezzanine level and single seating reflects the UNESCO brand. There is detailed weaving on canteen and break out area seats.

The Mezzanine floor provides a contact point for UNESCO’s City of Music - Adelaide with admin areas and networking bar

The secondary spaces contribute to interactive music performance and learning through an intimate area for live music.
